Welcome to the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band (RMMPB) webpage, a proud part of the SFU Pipe Band organization located at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
RMM thanks all those who supported the "Pipe Up For Cancer", "Balding for Boney" and post Ceilidh event held by the SFU Pipe Band on March 28, 2015. All proceeds from the events (exceeding $35,000) were donated to the BC Cancer Foundation.
ALL RMM Pipe Bands are preparing for the 2015 competition season and look forward to participating in Highland Games across British Columbia, Alberta and Washington State. RMM currently has bands competing in Grades 2, 3 and two bands in Grade 5. We look forward to a challenging competition season and wish all of our competitors a very successful season.
THE 2015 Robbie Burns Dinner was recently held at the Executive Inn in Coquitlam, BC and once again supporters of the organization were entertained by all our RMM bands, the SFU Pipe Band and Heather Jolley Highland Dancers. We wish to thank everyone who attended, made financial donations and or were the successful bidders in our yearly silent auction.
Because the RMM Pipe Band program is comprised of modivated youth, teens and adults between the ages 6-65, we are proud to obtain instruction from members of the six time World Pipe Band champion SFU Pipe Band. Under the SFU Pipe Band organizational umbrella, RMM ensures the highest level of instruction and playing standards are maintained throughout the entire year. Our program takes students from Introduction to Scottish Music (6-8 yrs) and Beginner Instruments (8-16 yrs) up through into the adult ranks of our Grade 2 and the SFU Pipe Band. With our multi-tiered pipe band approach, players remain under a single organizational umbrella and simnply change grades rather than uniforms. Few organizations exist in thw world that offers this type of organizational structure or the opportunity to promote into a Grade 1 level pipe band after starting out at the Introduction to Scottish Music level.
Instructors including P/M Alan Bevan (SFUPB), P/M Terry Lee (SFUPB-P/M Retired), P/S Jack Lee (SFUPB) D/S Reid Maxwell (SFUPB) and numerous other world class players are waiting to instruct youth from around the world who are interested in learning pipes and drums from members of the six time world champion SFU Pipe Band.
